A Chattooga County woman says that her personal information was used by someone in Texas to file income tax returns.  The local resident received a letter from the Texas Department of Treasury last week.  The paperwork included the woman’s social security number and private details.  The complainant called authorities at the Texas Treasury Department to tell them that she had not filed any tax returns in Texas.  The Texas Treasury Department told the woman that she would need a report from law enforcement in order for them to investigate the ID theft.  The incident was turned over to an investigator with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
