Saturday was a picture-perfect fall day with mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine and a great day for the annual SumNelly Arts and Crafts Festival.  The event, that was first organized by Pam Echols decades ago, drew hundreds from all over the area.  In fact, the turnout for SumNelly appeared to be one of the largest crowds in many years.  On Saturday at SumNelly, Summerville Main Street announced the winners of the Downtown Scarecrow Contest.

Lyerly First Baptist Church took first place with a scarecrow depiction of the Nativity.  The church used their display to advertise their “Walk Through Bethlehem” – a live Nativity event that is scheduled for the second weekend in December.  The live Nativity will take place at Lyerly First Baptist on December 9th from 5-8 PM.

The second place winner of the Downtown Scarecrow Contest went to Just Sew Crafty.

The third place winner of the Downtown Scarecrow Contest went to Wayside Baptist Church.
