The Rome News Tribune reported on Friday that a thirty-four-year-old Macon man is charged with making two calls to 14th District Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s office on Wednesday stating that he was going to shoot her in the head with a sniper rifle.

Sean Patrick Cirillo was arrested by the FBI and charged with using a communications device to threaten the congresswoman, according to information released by Greene’s office. Local law enforcement confirmed that they were notified of the incident.

A recording of the call was provided to the Rome News-Tribune by Greene’s staff. In that call to Greene’s office, the caller initially says he’s a major donor. He then continues saying, “yeah, I’ve go a bead on her… like a sniper rifle… and I’m going to kill her next week.”

The caller continues to say that he’s going to murder the congresswoman next week and challenges the staffer who answered the phone to call the FBI.

As the caller gets more erratic, he begins cursing and threatening another staffer who takes over the call, shouting expletives and racial slurs and accusing them of taking money.

“You don’t think you’re going to get payback,” the caller screams. “You’re going to die. Your family is going to die.”

Greene issued a statement on Thursday thanking members of law enforcement who investigated the call.

“I want to thank every single member of law enforcement who acted swiftly in response to this murderous threat. From the Rome Police (Department), the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Capitol Police, the House Sergeant at Arms and ultimately the FBI who made the arrest, every official acted quickly to put this man behind bars,” Greene said. “I’m not the only victim with this threat of violence. My family is threatened. My staff is threatened. I even had to close my district office due to the potential of violence. It’s wrong and never should happen.”
