A Chattooga County man reported the theft of a hunting dog to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.  A deputy responded to Patrick Evans’ residence on Highway 100 and spoke with Mr. Evans about the incident.  The complainant told the responding deputy that a couple had been by his property to ask about buying a female beagle for $100.  Mr. Evans told the couple that the dog wasn’t for sale, and especially not for $100.  The dog turned up missing a few days later.  Mr. Evans said that he spoke with the woman who had been by about purchasing the dog and she claimed that she didn’t know anything about the missing beagle.  The dog is AKC registered and valued at $400, according to the complainant.
