Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shots fired call on Rose Circle this past Sunday after receiving a dispatch from Chattooga 911.  When deputies arrived on the scene, there was no sign of any incident in progress.

Sheriff’s deputies saw a teenager standing a couple of houses down from where the incident was supposedly taken place, and knew him from previous issues in the Mountain View area.  One of the deputies called 911 and had them play back the message they received about shots being fired.  The caller had identified himself as “Tanner Foxx”.  At that point the deputy recognized the voice as being the teenager that was in the vicinity.

When the deputy spoke with the teen, he said it wasn’t him who had made the call and that he had no minutes on his phone to make any phone calls. The deputy asked the teen for his phone and called 911 from the phone.  Chattooga 911 identified that phone as the one that had made the call.

Deputies arrested seventeen-year-old Robert Earl Dover, Jr. and  charged him with false report of a crime.
