Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry, along with the mayors from all four municipalities in the county, have extended the burn ban on outdoor burning until January 1, 2024.  The commissioner’s office released a joint proclamation with Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey, Trion Mayor Lanny Thomas, Menlo Mayor Allen Keen and Lyerly Mayor Jim Ferguson on Friday.

The burn ban is due to current drought conditions in the county that are making it extremely hazardous to burn outdoors at this time.  You can see the proclamation below:
