A twenty-seven-year-old Trion man has been arrested on charges related to a single-vehicle motorcycle accident that happened on Mountain View Road around 4:30 on Sunday afternoon. 

The Georgia State Patrol says that James Earl Dover and a passenger were on a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle when Dover lost control of the vehicle in a curve.  Both Dover and the passenger, twenty-eight-year-old Chastity Godfrey, were thrown from the motorcycle and sustained injuries.  Both were transported by Atrium Health Floyd EMS to a Rome hospital for treatment.  Dover admitted to troopers that he had been consuming alcohol prior to the accident.

A witness told troopers that Dover was seen in the parking lot of a nearby convenience store “popping wheelies” prior to the accident.  Dover has been charged with DUI, expired tag, failure to maintain a single lane, suspended or canceled registration, serious injury by motor vehicle and violations of conditions for limited driving permit.

Dover was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on Wednesday morning.
