Work is underway on an electric vehicle Community Charging Station in Summerville.  Currently, the only other option for EV owners to use a public facility to charge their vehicles in Chattooga County is located at James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park.

The new EV Community Charging Station is being installed near Summerville City Hall on Georgia Avenue.  The city is providing the space for Georgia Power to install the charging station and says it will take up about two parking spaces at the parking lot adjacent to City Hall.

The next nearest EV charging stations are located to the south at Winshape Retreat in Floyd County and to the north at Key West Inn in LaFayette.

Georgia Power says, ” As the electric vehicle market grows, we want to make sure you can drive electric all across the state of Georgia and beyond with confidence”.
