Chattooga Sheriff Mark Schrader presenting service awards to Tammy  Owings  and Renee Montgomery
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office held their Christmas dinner on Friday evening at the Chattooga County Ag Building in Summerville and presented several awards to sheriff’s office employees.

The sheriff presented office staff members Tammy Owings and Renee Montgomery service awards.  Owings has been with the sheriff’s office for thirty-five years and Montgomery has served with the sheriff’s office for twenty years.   Also, Sheriff Schrader was recognized for thirty years of law enforcement service.  Sheriff Schrader began his law enforcement career working for Sheriff Ralph Kellett when he was a teenager.  He has served with the sheriff’s office for twenty-eight years and spent two years at the Trion Police Department.

Others recognized at the dinner included:

*Brian Tucker 20 years service to the Sheriff’s Office, 31 years total in law enforcement.
*David King with 15 years service to the Sheriff’s Office.
*Cpl. Corey Fielding with the award for number of arrests of impaired drivers.
Chattooga County Chief Deputy Kevin Woods was presented with the “Eddie Stroup – Service Above Self” Award.   The award is named in honor of long-time Chattooga County Sheriff Investigator Eddie Stroup who passed away in October of 2020.

The sheriff’s office also recognized officers of the year that were voted on by each employee with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office:
Jail Cpl. Melissa Hutchinson.
Jail officer Jonathan Reynolds.
Patrol Cpl. Corey Fielding.
Sheriff Schrader said,  “ I would like to thank each employee of the Sheriff’s Office for the job that they do. We are blessed with some great people serving the citizens of Chattooga County and I am proud to work alongside them”.
