The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says that the death of a truck driver found behind a Gordon County restaurant late last week appears to have been from a medical issue.

Local authorities were called to the scene following the discovery of a deceased woman near the Waffle House on Red Bud Road on Thursday afternoon and located the body of a female inside the camper area of a semi truck parked in the gravel lot behind the restaurant.

According to Calhoun Police Department Chief Tony Pyle, the woman appeared to be part of a truck driving team from out of town. Soon after the woman was located, Pyle said his department called for assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Scene Unit.

“At this point in the investigation, the death appears to be related to a medical issue,” GBI Public Affairs Specialist Jade Hensel said Friday afternoon.
