Chattooga County EMA /911 was the recipient of a Walmart Community Grant in the amount of $1450.  The grants are awarded through an open application process and provide funding directly from Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities to local organizations.

One of the eight areas of funding that the grants are available for is public safety.  Last year, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation provided more than $1.7 billion in cash and in-kind to support programs in communities across the United States.

The Chattooga County EMA plans to use the grant money for equipment that will be used at the operation center for training and for the day-to-day needs of the operation center.

Walmart says that the Community Grants for public safety are a way of supporting public safety programs through training programs or equipment in local communities.
