A twenty-six-year-old woman was arrested on Monday of this week in Summerville after police determined that she had been beating her boyfriend with a piece of broken door trim. 

Police were called to the scene of the domestic incident on Scoggins Street by a witness who told officers that the victim was sitting in a lawn chair in the yard when the suspect came outside and began beating him with a white board.  Officers spoke with the victim who was covered in dust and had signs of being assaulted.  The victim tried to make officers believe that his injuries were his own doing, but officers determined that the man’s girlfriend, identified as Ivy Gober, had beat the victim.

Officers ascertained that the incident started when Gober became angry with the victim for getting fired from his job.

The witness told police that it wasn’t the first time Gober had assaulted her boyfriend.

Gober was arrested on charges of simple battery and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
