A thirty-six-year-old man was arrested after a traffic stop at Cloudland last week.  According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was on patrol on Highway 48 and noticed a vehicle cross over the double-yellow line on three separate occasions.

The deputy performed a traffic stop near Riverhaven Lane.  The driver of the vehicle told the deputy that he was headed to Alabama to see an old army buddy.  The deputy said he could smell the odor of alcohol and marijuana coming from the vehicle.  While conducting a field sobriety test, the driver told the deputy there was a joint in the vehicle’s center console

Inside the vehicle, the deputy found the joint that the driver had told him about, plus another joint and a bag with what the deputy believed to be over an ounce of marijuana along with THC oil and a loaded handgun.

Matthew William Page was charged with felony marijuana possession, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a Schedule I drug and failure to maintain a single lane.
