After several weeks of very low to no COVID-19 cases being reported in Chattooga County, the Georgia Department of Public Health says that five cases were reported over the past week.  State health officials say that those are the cases reported, there could be more people who have tested positive with a home-test and have not reported to the health department.  Statewide, 3,845 new reports were filed, the most since just after the Labor Day weekend (4,059). Thirty deaths were reported in Georgia over the past week although none were from our area. Earlier this week, State Epidemiologist Dr. Cherie Drenzek shared that COVID-19 cases had increased by about 50% from the previous week with hospitalizations up 75% and deaths by 10%.
