Teresa Nanette Schaap, 47, of 73 Price Road, Rome turned herself in Tuesday morning, according to jail records.
Schaap is charged with felony terroristic threats and acts and transmitting a false public alarm.
Previously posted: Warrants have been filed against a Rome woman police say called in several bomb threats to the Rome Transitional Academy last month.
According to detective Jeff Richarson:
Police identified a Rome woman, Teresa Schaap, using physical evidence taken from the pay phone at a gas station in Rome.
Schaap later came forward to police and eventually confessed to calling in multiple threats to the school.
“She said she never intended to hurt anybody. There was never any bomb and that it was just poor judgment,” Richarson said.
The detective said Schaap was angry because her son had been taken to the youth detention center after bringing a weapon to school.
Schaap has not yet been arrested and Richarson said she has made arrangements to turn herself in to police.
According to a May 17 police report:
Police were called to the Rome Transitional Academy May 17 after an employee reported receiving a bomb threat.
A caller reportedly told an academy employee, “There is a bomb in your building. It will blow up in 10 minutes,” at approximately 11:50 a.m.
The building was evacuated and searched by police. No bomb or suspicious items were found. The complainant told police they suspected a disgruntled parent.
