A Flood Warning is in place for the Chattooga River in Chattooga County.  According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia, the warning is in place until Friday morning at 8:26 AM. Minor flooding is forecast for the river.  The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight and crest at 14.1 feet, which would be considered minor flood stage.  Earlier this morning the Chattooga River was just over 3 feet and by 3:45 PM, the river had risen to just over 7 feet.  Those who have property or live along the Chattooga River should make plans now to avoid loss of property.  Also, low-lying areas and flood-prone areas affected by the river could be impacted overnight tonight.  For the rest of the county, a Flood Watch remains in place until Saturday evening.
