Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton has announced her bid for reelection. 

Hampton was first elected in 2016 after defeating incumbent Democratic Tax Commissioner Kathy Van Pelt Brown.  Hampton then went on to a hotly contested General Election in 2016 and defeated Republican Ricky Hughes by just nine votes.  Hampton switched political parties and ran as a Republican in 2020.

Tax Commissioner Hampton told WZQZ News, “I feel very honored to even have the chance to have my name on the ballot as tax commissioner. I’ve been given this chance to use my experience and talents to help others, and to serve the citizens of Chattooga County. It’s a chance I am still so very thankful for. I’m also thankful for a team that goes over and beyond my expectations everyday, regardless of what gets thrown at them. We really are a team and I couldn’t accomplish anything without them”.
