A forty-year-old Walker County woman was arrested on drug charges after she filed a report with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office about a collision with a deer while she was returning home from Cherokee County, Alabama.

According to the sheriff’s report, Cassandra Utley met with a deputy in Trion to report the deer collision.  She told the deputy that she was returning from visiting a friend in Alabama when she struck a deer about two miles past the state line in Chattooga County.  She traveled all the way home to Walker County and her husband told her to call the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office and get a report about the deer collision.

While the deputy was speaking with the woman about the deer collision, he noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  After a search of the vehicle, deputies found marijuana and several containers of cocaine packaged for resale.  Utley also admitted to the deputy that she had a bag of cocaine in her underwear after the deputy warned her about crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs.

Utley was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and possession of drug related objects and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
