A gas truck was struck in the rear at the railroad crossing in Summerville near the intersection of the Lyerly Highway and Rome Boulevard on Wednesday of this week.  An Ameri-Gas propane truck stopped at the railroad crossing, as required by law, and a 1980’s-model, camouflage Chevrolet pickup truck struck the gas truck in the rear.  The two drivers got out, but the propane truck driver said that the driver of the camo-pickup truck did not want to exchange information.  The propane truck driver said that he would need a report from the police department for his employer’s insurance.  The driver of the propane truck said that his truck had very minimal damage to the rear bumper, but the Chevrolet pickup sustained major damage in the accident.  The camo-pickup was last seen turning onto Lake Wanda Reita Road in Summerville, but police were never able to locate the truck or the driver.
