A seventy-one-year-old Summerville man was charged with DUI by Summerville Police over the past weekend after a traffic stop near some storage units on Sixth Avenue.  Police say that an officer was sitting stationary in a patrol vehicle when he saw a driver fail to stop at a stop sign.  After initiating a traffic stop and speaking with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment and open containers of alcohol inside the man’s vehicle.  The driver said he had two beers earlier when he got off work but the the open beer in his vehicle was from several days prior.  After failing field sobriety tests, Michael Pledger Turner was charged with DUI for alcohol, failure to stop at a railroad crossing signal, open container of alcohol and driving on suspended or revoked license and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
