Severe thunderstorms that brought down trees Saturday afternoon caused widespread damage and approximately 20,000 customers are without power throughout NGEMC’s seven-county service area. NGEMC crews are working to restore power to all customers as quickly and as safely as possible.

Due to the severity of the damage, NGEMC officials estimate some customers may not be restored for 24 hours. Crews will continue to work around the clock to restore power in all of the affected areas until all customers’ service is restored. Stay away from fallen power lines because they could be energized and very dangerous.

Please stay away from downed lines and report them immediately to North Georgia EMC, your local power company or call 911. If your power is out, please call our offices to reach our 24-hour dispatch. During widespread outages, phone lines may be unavailable due to extremely high call volume. Please know that your call is important to us, and during these circumstances, NGEMC works diligently to restore service as soon as possible.
