If you have business in downtown Rome on Saturday, you should expect travel delays. 

On Thursday afternoon, the Rome Police Department issued a statement saying, “There will be a flurry of activity Saturday, March 9 in Rome and Floyd County. Make plans now for any travel you may do in and around Rome, especially the downtown area. Visit www.RomeGa.us for closure and parking options. Please stay tuned over the next few days as information about parking and traffic control may change quickly”.

Rome Police say that Tribune Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues will be closed until after 7 PM on Saturday with NO through traffic permitted. All walking trails between the Rome/Floyd Law Enforcement Center and Hawthorne Suites will be closed from 9 AM until 7 PM on Saturday as well.

Former President Donald Trump is expected to hold a campaign rally in downtown Rome at the Forum River Center on Saturday at 5 PM.  The Secret Service and the Trump Campaign have reportedly been planning the event in coordination with Floyd County and Rome officials for several weeks.
