A woman was arrested after entering a church in Floyd County on Sunday and causing a disturbance before attacking a man in the congregation.

Kail Mikeal Schemmel, 28 of Lawrenceville, was arrested this week after she allegedly damaged the door to Christway Resurrection Outreach Ministries Church on Callier Springs Road and proceeded to threaten members of the congregation.

Police added that Schemmel acted in a tumultuous manner while hitting a forty-one- year-old man in the face.  She is also accused of threatening to kill the victim in front of law enforcement.  The incident occurred in front of numerous children at the church.

During her arrest, Schemmel is also accused of biting an officer.

Schemmel is charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, two counts battery, four counts cruelty to children, criminal damage to property, two counts felony obstruction, two counts terroristic threats and acts and vandalism of a church.
