The Chattooga County Sheriffs Office has released a report about the arrest of a man wanted in Oklahoma on rape charges. Dallas Lee Coosewoon, age 29 of Comanche County, Oklahoma, is wanted in connection with a rape case in Lawton, Oklahoma that took place in 2022.

According to local reports at the time of the incident, Coosewoon was accused of coming into the bathroom of the mother of three children and taking her to the bedroom of the woman’s home and raping her by force.

Shortly after 1 AM on Easter Sunday, Chattooga County Sheriffs deputies and Summerville Police were conducting a checkpoint near the intersection of Rome Boulevard (Highway 27) and Espy Street.  When the suspect pulled up at the checkpoint, officers noticed the smell of marijuana.

Coosewoon was detained after local authorities discovered he was a fugitive from justice and had an active warrant on charges of rape.

Coosewoon was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on Sunday morning and was awaiting extradition to Oklahoma.
