Two Summerville residents have released statements about their intentions to qualify for a seat on the Summerville City Council for the unexpired term of Councilman David Ford who passed away earlier this year.  Pam Albert, an employee with the Chattooga County School System and longtime recreational league coach, says that she wants to see improvements to the city’s recreational facilities.  Simone Adams, a local realtor, says that one of her main goals is to foster a more inclusive community.  Both candidates provided statements to WZQZ News that you may read below.  Any other candidates seeking to qualify are welcome to contact WZQZ with an announcement about their candidacy.

Carrie Pam Albert: 

I am a lifelong resident of Chattooga County, a member Second Baptist Church in Summerville. I graduated from the Chattooga County High School. I’m married to Warren Albert Jr. We have six children, eighteen grandchildren, and two great grandsons. I’m currently employed with the Chattooga County School System.

I have been a coach at Summerville Parks & Recreation Center since 1987 – coaching tee-ball, tot ball and assistant coach for 12 & under girls’ softball. Presently, I’m coaching 5- 6-year old coach pitch. This is my second season coaching volleyball, and I am looking forward to my third season. Working with the youth has been a wonderful experience for me. It’s so important to devote time to building the values for our future generations. It gives me the chance to meet all types of people in our community.

When I go to other recreation facilities in our region and see the improvements that they have made, I realize the need for Summerville to stand up for our youth! I’m excited to bring ideas to the table to improve our Parks and Recreation Facilities, such as: – Ways to involve our Special need kids in recreation activities, – Providing inside facilities to practice softball and baseball, – A new ballpark developed with more fields at Fairway, – A splash pad 220 Ga-100. This is just the beginning of what I would like to see happen. I know it will take time and energy in addition to money – so I plan to explore grants for the improvements

I want to be your voice. I want to hear your ideas and input. I know there is no “I” in team, so I will not or make you promises that I cannot deliver. I promise you that I will continue to address the ideas of improving the Parks and Recreation Facilities in Summerville, Georgia. I want to help improve the city’s infrastructure by helping our number one resource: Our Kids! I ask for your vote to pave the way for more opportunities for all!
