The Catoosa County Board of Elections held a meeting on Tuesday and voted 4-1 to allow four incumbent Republican candidates remain on the ballot.  Lookout Mountain Superior Court Judge Don Thompson had ruled last month that the Catoosa County Republican Party could not prevent the incumbents from qualifying for the May Primary Election.

The board of elections decided that Jeff Long, Vanita Hullander, Larry Black, and Steven Henry will be allowed on the ballot for the Republican Primary next month.

The board is made up of two Republicans, two Democrats and one independent.

The Catoosa County Republican Party is weighing their options after Judge Thompson’s ruling and the board of elections ruling after initially saying that the four incumbents could not qualify because they didn’t meet the vetting committee’s definition of a “true Republican”.
