A longtime area pastor and former employee of the City of Summerville passed away on Monday of this week.  Rev. Gerald Dewayne Teague pastored churches in Georgia, Alabama and Alaska, with thirty years spent as pastor at Sardis Baptist Church in Chattoogaville. 

He was also a former employee of the City of Summerville, having retired from the City of Summerville Water Department.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Mason.  Rev. Teague was a member of the American Legion Post 0215, and Valley Head Lodge 394.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Rev. Teague will take place at 11:00 EST Thursday, May 30 at the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Barry Peppers officiating. Interment with Military Honors and Masonic Rights will follow at AMI cemetery with the grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.
