Voccio also said that vaping products should be banned from schools immediately.

“Kids think that vaping is harmless,” Voccio said. “But we now know that students can get lung damage from vaping — and I say that as a recently retired pulmonologist (who specializes in lung conditions).”

The vaping market is nearly unregulated, and the devices themselves come in a variety of shapes and sizes that are easily concealable.

“Every school superintendent I’ve spoken to thinks vaping is a huge problem and getting larger,” Voccio said. “They have no idea what they’re putting in their bodies, and neither do the teachers.”

According to the latest numbers from the CDC, one in ten high school students in the U.S. use vaping products.
