Lumsden, a former Georgia State Trooper, says that his thirty years experience with the Georgia State Patrol make the issue of public safety “near and dear” to his heart.  Lumsden made the comments last week to the Rotary Club in Rome.

Lumsden said that the legislature has at some incentives at the state level, like pay increases and other options. While there hasn’t been any concrete proposals made, yet, but Lumsden said there are very serious discussions around the recruitment and retention of law enforcement officers.
