Summerville City Councilman Joe Money says that he has reached out to the Operations Manager of the Chattooga & Chickamauga Railway system about the issues with the railroad crossing on Rome Boulevard near the intersection of the Lyerly Highway.  The area has been getting increasingly worse.  Councilman Money says that he has been advised by the railroad that they are working to repair the loose, rocking cross panels over the road.  Also, the railroad has reached out to the Georgia Department of Transportation about a planned surface rehab of the stretch of Highway 27 (Rome Boulevard) to tie in with the existing railroad crossing.  Councilman Money added, “Hopefully, this will happen soon to make that ride a little bit smoother”.
