An elderly Resaca man was released from Polk County Jail on a $2,000 bond on Friday after being charged with vehicular homicide in connection with an accident that happened on Thursday on Georgia 101 that killed a Rome man.
That accident killed thirty-year-old Jacob Pearson of Rome who was driving a motorcycle and collided with a Jeep Cherokee being driven by eighty-three-year-old Samuel William Johnston. The Georgia State Patrol says that Johnston failed to yield while attempting to turn onto Dean Road and the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Jeep.
Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnston was arrested and charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield while turning left, both misdemeanors. He was booked into Polk County Jail and released Friday on $2,000 bond.
