
A house burned on Gore-Subligna Road on Monday evening. At 8 PM, the Subligna Gore and Hays Fire Departments were dispatched to a residential structure fire located at 6530 Gore Subligna Road.
The call came into Chattooga 911 from a neighbor of the property who said that the house was vacant. Subligna Fire Department was first on the scene and updated additional information to incoming units. Gore Fire Department were the second on the scene and laid a supply line from a nearby fire hydrant.
Hays Correctional Fire Department then arrived on the scene with additional manpower.
Firefighters say that the fire started in a back porch storage room and extended into the attic quickly prior to fire units’ arrival. Exterior suppression started immediately until water supply was established. At that point, an aggressive interior attack was enunciated, limiting extension into the footprint of the structure. Salvage and overhaul combined with a point of origin investigation was completed by fire units.
Fire units cleared the scene at 10:22 PM.
The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
