Plans are underway in Plains, Georgia and in Atlanta to celebrate President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday.  The former peanut farmer and Governor of Georgia will have his centennial birthday on October 1, 2024.

Organizers in Carter’s hometown of Plains and at the Carter Center and Presidential Library in Atlanta say that the day will be marked by a film festival.  While governor of Georgia, Carter laid the groundwork for television and movie production in the Peach State.  Something that has since led to a multi-million dollar industry.  Plans are to show movies that the Carters watched while they were in the White House in the late 1970’s.

President Carter is the oldest living President in American history.

His grandson, Jason Carter, says that the President is still alert.  Although not very active, he still enjoys watching the Atlanta Braves and eating peanut butter ice cream.
