Funeral services will be held at Alpine Community Church in Menlo tomorrow for Martha Tucker, the longtime Clerk of Chattooga County who passed away on Sunday.
On Monday, Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry said that his office and other county government departments will be closed tomorrow in honor of Mrs. Tucker. Commissioner Elsberry said that “Martha leaves behind a legacy of civil service that will stand as an example for years to come of what it truly means to be dedicated to the community you serve”. Mrs. Tucker served as county clerk for thirty-four years. She began working in county government under Commissioner Jim Parker and also worked for Commissioner Mike Dawson, Commissioner Jason Winters and current Commissioner Blake Elsberry.
Additionally, Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods says that his office will close early on Wednesday so that staff can attend Mrs. Tucker’s funeral. The Chattooga County Probate Office will close at 11 AM tomorrow and reopen on Thursday morning.
A reminder, the Chattooga County Tax Office is always closed on Wednesdays.
