Yesterday, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Vet the Vote announced their partnership encouraging veterans and military families across the state to serve as poll workers. Vet the Vote is a nonprofit initiative that recruits veterans and military family members to serve their communities again as poll workers. As part of the partnership, Secretary Raffensberger and Vet the Vote will host events for veterans and military families in Paulding County and in Muscogee County, on July 16 and 17 respectively.

Vet the Vote provides Georgia’s veterans the opportunity to continue to serve their country and local communities by helping to run and administer elections. Attendees at the event will get a firsthand look at how elections in Paulding and Muscogee County are run and they will hear from Georgia’s election officials, many of whom are veterans or military family members themselves, about the process.

“Georgia is blessed with one of the largest and most active veteran communities in the country,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “Our veterans have always stepped up to serve their communities from starting and growing businesses to supporting civic and charitable efforts across the state. Today we are asking Georgia’s veterans and military families to take this leadership and put it towards service at the polls. There’s no one better equipped to serve their communities and to ensure our elections continue to be secure and accessible.”

The July 16 event will be held at the Paulding County Elections Office and the July 17 event will be held at the National Infantry Museum outside of Fort Moore. Media and the public are encouraged to attend.
