Each week, the U.S. Drought Monitor releases a report on drought conditions across the country.  The reports, which are released on Thursdays, include conditions for each county in the nation.  Despite recent rainfall across the Peach State, most of Georgia is somewhere between “abnormally dry” and “severe drought” conditions. 

But the good news is the National Weather Service says that long-range weather patterns show improvement and most of the state is expected to recover by the end of September to the first of October.

The latest drought report is unchanged since last week for Chattooga County.  West of Taylor’s Ridge, the county is considered to be in the “severe drought” designation while east of Taylor’s Ridge continues in the “abnormally dry” category.

More rain is in the forecast, along with moderating temperatures, from today through next weekend.
