Tracey Chaney, the CEO and founder of African American Culture Incorporated says that his organization is in the process of creating the African American Culture Incorporated’s’ Museum and Cultural Center, dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history and culture of African American, Native American, and local mill town communities of Trion and the surrounding Appalachian region.

The museum will provide a space for education, reflection, and celebration of the diverse heritage in our area.  Chaney says, “By documenting and showcasing our history, we ensure that future generations understand and appreciate the struggles and achievements of our ancestors and local community.”
Chaney says the immediate need is cleaning supplies – items such as mops, brooms, buckets, cleaning cloths, disinfectants, window cleaners, and trash bags are essential for preparing our space.
Other needs in the near future will include:
1. Volunteers: Need dedicated volunteers to help with cleaning, organizing exhibits, hosting events, and maintaining the museum space.
2. Donations: Financial contributions are crucial for covering costs related to construction, exhibits, and operational expenses.
3. Materials: Building materials, furniture, display cases, and other items to set up the museum. If you have any items to donate, please let us know.
4. Expertise: If you have experience in museum curation, historical research, or construction, your expertise would be invaluable to the project.
