When you have to fill up your fuel tank or take a trip to the grocery store, it might be hard to believe that Chattooga County is in the top 7% of counties in the Peach State when it comes to low cost of living.

Out of the 159 counties in Georgia, Chattooga County ranks at number eleven in the lowest cost of living according to the website Niche.com.

Niche uses a variety of factors to calculate its cost of living rankings, including housing, fuel costs and taxes.  Niche also considers access to affordable housing and the consumer price index.

This grade takes into account key factors, including a location’s housing, food, and fuel costs, as well as the median tax rates, in an attempt to measure the overall affordability and relative cost of living of an area.  You can see more of where the data comes from HERE

Wilcox County in south-central Georgia is ranked as the county with the lowest cost of living.  As of June of this year, Forsyth County is considered to have the highest cost of living in the state.

The report also says that the median income in Chattooga County is $43,566 compared to the national median income of $75,149.
