The Georgia Recovers Project is a transformational campaign featuring 16 Georgia Recovery Ambassadors addressing the growing addiction epidemic. Under the leadership of Governor Brian Kemp and Commissioner Kevin Tanner, the Georgia Council for Substance Abuse has been granted and tasked with a substantial investment in a stigma-reduction campaign promoting the benefits of recovery by showcasing citizens of Georgia who are living lives in long-term recovery.
September is National Recovery Month and Georgia Recovery Ambassadors are traveling the state to raise awareness. Recovery Month was started in September 1989 to celebrate the recovery community and highlight the importance of evidence-based treatment and recovery practices.
The Georgia Recovers Bus Tour will show that the opposite of addiction is a connection, as communities across Georgia unite to stand against stigma and proclaim that Recovery is Real.
The bus tour will be at Dowdy Park in Summerville on September 6, 2024, from 11 AM until Noon.
