Bruce Coker, a Walker County Sheriff’s Department deputy, has announced his intentions to run for the Chief Magistrate Judge’s position in Walker County.  Coker announced his plans and said that he had filed a letter of intent with the Secretary of States office on Monday.

Coker was the Democratic nominee for the 53rd state senate seat twice and was defeated each time by State Senator Jeff Mullis.  Coker then served as the Chair of the Walker County Democratic Party, leaving that position earlier this year.

Qualifying for the race won’t take place until April of next year.
