Last Thursday evening, Summerville Police responded to a report of a stolen firearm from a residence on Henderson Street. The call came in at approximately 9:51 PM, prompting officers to investigate the situation further. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, identified as Gerald Stewart, who reported that his firearm had been kept under his pillow in his bedroom.
Stewart disclosed that the only individual who had accessed his home earlier that day was a male subject who had previously entered his bedroom to repair a door. The theft was discovered when Stewart went to make his bed, only to find the firearm missing. At the time of the report, he was unable to provide the serial number for the weapon but indicated that he would reach out to a friend who could provide that information. Stewart mentioned that the firearm had been pawned to him by this friend in exchange for a loan of money. The responding officer assured Stewart that a report would be drafted and forwarded to an investigator for further examination.
Stewart was advised to contact the Summerville Police Department once he had obtained the serial number for the firearm, which could aid in the ongoing investigation.
