In the early hours of October 2nd, Summerville Police responded to a potential altercation at George’s Kwik Store parking lot, resulting in the detention of two men and the arrest of a 22-year-old male on charges of robbery.
At approximately 12:40 AM, an officer was on routine patrol when he spotted two white males—one with a black shirt wrapped around his face—appearing to prepare for a physical confrontation. As the situation escalated, the male with the black shirt, later identified as Hayden Ramey, fled the scene and entered the backseat of a white truck. A police officer initiated a traffic stop and approached the vehicle, where he identified Ramey and another male, Joseph Coy Dial, who was also present in the parking lot.

Ramey displayed signs of intoxication, with a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Officer Wilson requested voluntary consent from the driver, Lexington Fisher, to search the vehicle, to which she complied. Ramey was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle for his safety and the safety of others while officers continued their investigation. The situation escalated when Joseph Dial revealed that Ramey had allegedly threatened him during the confrontation. Dial reported that Ramey accused him of speaking to someone and demanded that he empty his pockets. Dial handed over his wallet and a designer belt valued at $25 to Ramey during the heated exchange. While officers searched the area, they discovered various items belonging to Dial scattered both inside the truck and in the parking lot, including a green/yellow debit card identified as belonging to a family member.

Further inquiries with Fisher and the passenger, Kailee Ford, revealed that they were unsure of how Dial’s belongings ended up in the truck, despite witnessing Ramey’s aggressive behavior. Joseph Dial was found to have a BB gun pistol in his possession, which he stated was for protection. However, he was released after passing an Alco-Sensor test, which indicated he was not intoxicated.

Ramey was charged with robbery and public drunkenness and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
