During a routine License and Safety Checkpoint operation in Chattooga County, law enforcement officers made drug-related arrests on October 12, 2024. Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisting the Georgia State Patrol when they encountered a green Ford Ranger pickup truck occupied by Larry Cooper and Tammy Jackson. Despite Cooper’s denial, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and conducted a search. They found a marijuana grinder and joint on Cooper, as well as a glass smoking device with suspected methamphetamine residue in his jacket. Additionally, they found Alprazolam pills between the seats and methamphetamine in Jackson’s purse. Both denied ownership and were charged accordingly. They were transported to the Chattooga County Jail, and the vehicle was towed.
