Governor Brian P. Kemp of Georgia, along with other state officials, unveiled plans for a third special tax rebate totaling over $1 billion for Georgia taxpayers.

The proposed one-time refund will provide $250 to single filers, $375 to head-of-household filers, and $500 to married couples filing jointly. This rebate is in addition to previous measures such as state gas tax suspensions, homeowner tax relief grants, and the largest income tax cut in Georgia history, resulting in over $6. 6 billion in savings for taxpayers.

Governor Kemp highlighted the ongoing impact of high prices on Georgians due to inflation and emphasized the importance of providing relief to hardworking individuals amid economic challenges. The new tax refund reflects ongoing efforts to alleviate financial burdens on Georgia residents, building on previous tax cuts implemented by the Governor and General Assembly.

The special tax rebates announced do not count as taxable income under Georgia law, simplifying the process for taxpayers who only need to file their individual income tax returns from 2023 and 2024. The ongoing efforts to provide financial relief and support the economic well-being of Georgia residents demonstrate the state’s commitment to easing financial burdens and empowering its citizens.
