A proposed shooting range on Lookout Mountain appears to have stalled after the application for a special use permit was withdrawn hours before Walker County Commissioners were set to vote on the issue.

McLemore Club, located on Highway 157 in Walker County in Cloudland had announced plans for the gun range, but was met with opposition from neighbors in the surrounding area.  Thursday afternoon, Walker County announced that the application for a special use permit for the shooting range had been withdrawn.

The following item has been withdrawn by the applicant from tonight’s meeting agenda – McLemore Club LLC requests a Special Use Permit Class 3 for a shooting range for property located at 23145 Hwy 157, Menlo, GA 30731. Tax map & parcel number 0-385-006.

It was not clear if the opposition from the community played a roll in the decision to withdraw the application.
