On Friday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced that they have arrested and charged Rebecca Hood, 50, and Scott Hood, 56, both residents of Calhoun, GA, with cruelty to children. This arrest follows a lengthy investigation into allegations of sexual and physical abuse involving the couple’s adopted children.

The inquiry was initiated on January 26, 2021, when the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office sought assistance from the GBI to address the serious allegations against the Hoods. At the time the allegations surfaced, Rebecca Hood held the position of County Commissioner for Gordon County, raising concerns regarding her responsibilities and oversight in the community. Following their arrests, both Rebecca and Scott Hood were booked into the Gordon County Jail, where they await further proceedings.

The GBI has confirmed that this investigation remains active and ongoing, as the agency continues to gather evidence and conduct interviews.
