After more than two decades of service, Lavender Mountain Hardware is set to close its doors, marking the end of an era for the beloved community staple. Established in 2000, the hardware store has weathered numerous challenges, from the events of 9/11 to the droughts of 2008 and the COVID-19 pandemic, all while adapting to the evolving needs of its customers. Owners Spencer and Virginia Brewer are looking forward to retirement at the end of this year, passing the torch to a familiar face in the neighborhood.

The property will be sold to Jimmy and Maria Holbrook, the owners of Equipment Outlet, who are enthusiastic about the upcoming transition. Holbrook has been involved in the local business community for years. He was a former partner in North Georgia Equipment Sales, along with Jeff Blalock, and later Chris Drury, which opened just down the road from Lavender Mountain in December 2000. The two businesses shared a neighborly relationship until 2012, when North Georgia Equipment Sales relocated to Summerville.

After selling his stake in that venture in 2015, Holbrook found his way back to the Armuchee Community by working for Russ Jennings at Equipment Outlet, which took over the former North Georgia location in Armuchee. In 2022, after Jennings’ retirement, Holbrook took over the business as Holbrook’s Equipment Outlet, LLC.

Now, as he prepares to step into his new role as owner of the Lavender Mountain property, he and his wife Maria are excited for the future. “We wish Spencer and Virginia all the best in their retirement,” Holbrook stated. “They have contributed so much to this community, and we look forward to continuing that legacy in the new location.”

As Lavender Mountain Hardware gears up for its final holiday season, customers can expect a store-wide clearance sale beginning November 13, with operations continuing until Christmas. Meanwhile, Equipment Outlet is planning to move into the new location in early 2025, with a grand opening celebration slated for March.

The community of Armuchee bids farewell to a cherished establishment while welcoming an expanded presence from a local business.
