On Thursday, the Chattooga Family Connection (CFC) successfully held its Annual Home for the Holidays food distribution, an event aimed at providing seasonal support to families in need. Director Maisha Ludy announced that the organization met its goal by distributing 300 turkey breasts, along with loaves of bread, fresh produce, canned goods, and various other essential items. “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to make this event a success,” Ludy stated. “From donating turkeys to collecting canned goods and providing monetary donations, your support has made a significant difference in our community.”

Special acknowledgments were made to Roone Gable, Chattooga High School’s head football coach, for his efforts in picking up and transporting the turkey breasts to the Chattooga County Resource Center (CRC). “Thank you for always being there to support our events,” Ludy expressed. The community spirit was evident with the participation of local high school students. Chattooga High School football and baseball players volunteered their time, along with members of the Trion High School Spanish Club. Their enthusiasm and commitment contributed to the smooth operation of the distribution.

Felicia Foster was recognized for providing lunch for the students and volunteers while also pitching in to help with the event. “Your generosity is greatly appreciated,” Ludy said.

The CRC served as not only the venue for the distribution but also supported the event in multiple ways. Ludy extended her gratitude to the local schools for organizing canned food drives, which played a crucial role in gathering supplies for the event, as well as to Drug-Free Chattooga for their support.

Ludy emphasized that the event’s success was a collective effort: “We had numerous individuals who made monetary donations and donated turkeys. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to ALL of you! Without your support, we couldn’t have had such a successful event.”
