Curative Insurance Company, in partnership with the Health Analytics and Insights Group, published results from a survey highlighting significant issues faced by Georgians with employer-sponsored health insurance. About 55% of people in Georgia get their health benefits from their jobs. The survey of 500 adults in Georgia revealed concerning trends, such as 41% of working Georgians delaying healthcare and 50% not filling prescriptions due to high costs, even though they have insurance.

Many Georgia workers struggle to afford necessary care and medicines, leading to worsening health issues and higher overall care costs. This situation is aggravated by rising out-of-pocket expenses. Additionally, 45% of employees reported taking time off work for health problems, which can affect productivity.

CEO Fred Turner expressed concern over employees having to choose between health and financial stability, indicating that the current insurance model is failing. With rising premiums, many employers opt for High Deductible Health Plans, but 47% of employees feel their deductibles are too high. The survey showed that 69% of Georgians with insurance take drastic steps to manage healthcare costs, a percentage higher than the national average.

The survey results point to an urgent need for different healthcare solutions in Georgia.
