
According to a report released on Tuesday of this week by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a 71-year-old man, identified as Marcelin Silvius, was arrested on December 24, 2024, after a traffic stop revealed he was impaired and driving recklessly.
The incident, occurred early on Christmas Eve, according to the report. The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office reported that a deputy responded to an alert from another motorist about a minivan behaving erratically on Gore Subligna Road at around 6:25 AM. Witnesses noticed the vehicle was swerving and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.
Silvius claimed that his minivan was malfunctioning when he drove into the wrong lane, but the responding deputy observed signs of confusion and asked about health issues, but Silvius insisted he was fine.
After agreeing to field sobriety tests, he showed multiple signs of impairment.
Silvius was arrested for DUI for drugs and additional traffic offenses.
